A group of individuals was on campus today preaching fire and brimstone.  My camera died right as I was about to take a picture, so the picture above is of a member of another church that uses similar practices.

I have a real problem with their message and their tactics.  First of all, they are preaching a message of hate.  The God I worship is the God of love, compassion, and mercy, not hate.  God loves EVERYONE infinitely, regardless of their acceptance of him, or their actions.

My second problem is more about their tactics.  Do they really think they can scare people into redemption?  A lasting relationship with Jesus Christ will not exist if it is based on fear.

Lastly, they are not promoting a very good image of Christianity.  Most of us are sane, rational people who love Christ, and want to be channels for His love.  We are genuinely trying to change the world for the better, and do not appreciate be lumped in to this group of people because we happen to worship the same God in very different ways.

Besides, the university they chose is interesting.  I attend a university where 3/4 of the student body self-identifies as Christian, and it is in a very, very conservative and Christian area.

can't forget that they teach their children to hate also! God does love everyone including the "fags" and the ones that are "going to hell"!!! you don't get people to turn to God by telling them He hates them, you bring them to Christ by SHOWING them His love and mercy but apparently someone didn't get the memo.
Good post
